duncan-uk
I came across a useful little item in a Service CD that referred to ABS Systems and how to bleed them, differently to normal pressure bleeding. Anyway, this Service CD stated that to bleed an E28 ABS System you had to pump the brakes 3 times, then open the brake bleeding nipple and pump it 10 times. Only one or two bubbles were evacuated, but amazingly, this did the trick and got rid of the really spongy pedal that pressure bleeding couldn't fix. Make sure on the last stroke you close the bleeding nipple before you reach the end of the stroke so that air doesn't get in the system. However, all ABS equipped cars have slightly spongy pedal feel compared to non-ABS systems, due to the design of the Bosch ABS. One thing I'm going to try, but haven't yet, is activating the ABS and then doing another pressure bleed. This may improve the pedal feel even more?.
