What did you do to your F10, F11 or F07 today?

Recommended Posts

I got a set of genuine replacement locking wheel bolts from eBay from one of the dealers.

I’ve also used Cotswolds for the odd replacement.

Just make sure if buying online that the bolts are M14x1.25 and not the older style M12x1.5 bolts. Both have 17mm hex heads so appear the same but aren’t!

Mine turned 66,000 miles this morning

So many jobs I want to do on it but can't get near them for work, weather and other domestic reasons....

I did the drivers-side door handle yesterday afternoon.

Other than that I've ordered some brighter LED boards for the ambient lighting I didn't realise I had until I started mucking about with door handles!

Lol that's on my long to do list too.

They call that the "Low-end" Model

Just because it doesn't have folding mirrors (more stuff to go wrong)

and the TMS module which was thankfully bone dry so I could blast the hairdryer into the TMS module opening....

to test the hairdryer theory out for getting rid of the headlight condensation.

First thing this morning

...it's clearing up...

Getting there

IMG-4547.jpg

30 minutes of hot air being blown thru, the top cap was open to encourage air flow thru the headlight.

IMG-4546.jpg

I'll take that as a win, well for today anyway.

And in a futile attempt to limit its return.

We will wait and see how long that lasts.

Answer, not that long.  Came back with vengeance yesterday.

Balls.

Upgraded the suspension to a B12 Bilstein set and new bump stops and dust covers on rear shocks. Noticeable difference in how the car now rides a lot flatter on acceleration and braking as well as through the bends.

When I’ve fitted new shocks, you can feel difference within a few hundred meters of driving. It’s a great sensation.

Are Bilsteins worth the cash?

Started it after being stood for 2 weeks in the rain. No battery discharging while stationary message so looks like the remaining 2 new comfort access handles I fitted a couple of months ago are working spot on!

Did the annual yellow grommet check

IMG-5189.jpg

Bit of debris but importantly the yellow grommet looks healthy.

IMG-5201.jpg

Gave the engine bay a quick clean too after splashing water on it from rinsing out the yellow grommet.

IMG-5206.jpg

Followed by a wash and a very quick try of a few detailing sprays. If I had more time ideally it wants a clay and polishing too

Actually just checking back, it was 11 months ago I last did it....

Looking at the photo it looks worse as there were a couple of leaves which makes it look like a bigger mound.

It's an annual job IMHO....

I can do it in less than 20 minutes as I'm an expert at getting the cover back on in the right spot so as to get that 4th bolt in the awkward location.

12 months worth of muck.

I did it in between showers this morning, when I loosened the cover water trickled out.

It had been very wet overnight and early this morning here and you can see the tide line on the back of the cover.

@F10-65 Post from 1st July last year.  More build up in the last 11 months than the previous similar time frame.  Although it has been much wetter I reckon and I do park nowadays nearer more trees so more chance for muck to build up.

So are you going to look at yours again then? 🤣

Ready to fit this weekend

I forgot, I’ve got tomorrow off from work.  So fit new nuts, firmware on apple CarPlay unit and just changed rear brakes but service counter won’t reset.  Do you think I’ve put the sensor on backwards?

Full service with the main dealer who kindly relieved me of £608. My local specialist quoted me a bit cheaper (£450 ish) but it’s had main dealer servicing all its life and the OCD side of me wanted to keep that going.

Assuming New sensor and required service warning was at least yellow or red. If green reset not possible.

Handbrake needs to be off before reset procedure will work.
