What did you do to your F10, F11 or F07 today?

I know your pain.

So far my toddler has ejected the contents of his stomach 4 times. Luckily the car seat has managed to catch most of it. I wonder if the seat designers take this into account?!

Nope!

As the puke in this case had run down the sides of the seat (between the black seat and blue shell) and for obvious reasons, you can't fully take it to bits to clean.

At least the covers come off to get thrown in the washing machine!

This is one reason why you delay owning or using a 'quality' car until until the projectile vomit emitters are through that phase.

Unfortunately, there can be a reoccurrence from mid teens onwards, with discovery of booze and 'new friends' (boy friends/girlfriends). Prevention / protection from vomitting can be provided by suggesting their vomit comet episodes can be uploaded to social media.

When your offspring are small, putting the car seat on a seat liner, that sits on a blanket or fitted seat cover can assist.

For projectile protection, easy. Put the pram/pushchair rain cover over the child seat after the seat is occupied. This will catch most projectile vomit. For those 'yummy' parents concerned about breathing issues🙄, most rain covers have a small flap that can open.

The benefit of the rain cover also reduces the likelihood of projectiles ( teddies, toys, books, etc.) getting from the rear of the cabin to the front😂😂😂.

However, none of the above can help if your offspring are clumsy!

I had to pull over in a bus stop in Brookfield to let my then girlfriend be violently sick thankfully after opening the passenger door of my Senator at the time.  She had been well warned previously about not puking in my car.

She did well, so I upgraded her to wife status.

Obviously a keeper then!🤣

My 20 year old daughter ruined my sunroof blind....unfortunately she's unlikely to move out soon😞.  The latest in a long list of accidents since she was 2 years old.🙄 ( duvets, bathroom door, bedroom door, fridge door, cooker oven door, wardrobe door, kitchen cupboard door, keyboards, mice, computer monitors....

Had all 4 shocks replaced, not strictly today, they got changed last weekend but being VDC shocks they needed coding onto the car and my mate who fitted them for me didn't have the necessary equipment.  After having to drive round for a few days with extremely firm suspension I managed to get booked in at an indy specialist near Edinburgh.  They managed to fit me in at short notice while I was passing and got me in and out in 20 mins. The car is now riding very well indeed on it's new shocks.

Did 100 miles on mine today to take part in a volunteering session at the Bo’ness and Kinneil railway today.

A long way from home...

The Ferrari V12 in the GTC4 Lusso can be likened to driving two straight sixes (which of course it is). It's just as smooth, twice as powerful and twice as exotic. It also confirmed that I still really like my straight six and I actually prefer it to a V8, as in my previous C63. If I was buying a supercar it'd have to be a V12 or V10.  

With Pagani in the morning first.

The Italian drivers aren't actually that bad, they like to go close to everyone but otherwise make sensible decisions (mostly). The two wheeled variety though are utter loons and cannot accept anything other than not stopping, going faster than everything else and going into gaps that only exist if you change what you were about to do. 

Still got a few more days before the drive back later in the week.

Noticed the F11 getting a bit twitchy at the back and when going over bumps at speed I get a kind vibration for a second or so. I'm assuming it's the rear dampers that are on the way out....had the airbags changed a couple of months ago so deffo not those. 

I've ordered these up so hopefully will sort the issue.

Sounds likely. What mileage do you have on your car? The VDC dampers on my F11 were leaking oil with about 65000 miles on soon after I bought it. They got changed under warrantybut 100000 mile later the fronts were starting to show their age so I've just replaced the full set.  I wish mine were as affordable as those TRWs.

That is such a great shot of yours in that photo of the rear quarter looking out over the Italian hills.

Sounds exactly the same as @VPCAPTAIN had, we replaced his rear shocks and top mounts. Be worth doing the same. There is a O ring that goes on top of the top mount to help cut out noise and vibrations getting into the cabin.

It's now on 207000! ....so no real surprise! I think in the very near future I'll have to do the fronts too..but they do feel OK for the time being.

The bump stops are completely wrecked.

I went for TRW because the price/quality ratio seemed pretty decent. I've read some decent reviews. Car is also on 207000 miles now so at some stage in the not too distant future it'll probably have to be changed....not that I want to particularly...has been and is still a great drive and suits me well with carrying kidd and all their associated junk!

I know I'm spending your money, but to install a completely new unit with top mounts, gaiters and bump stops etc is well worth it IMHO. You then don't run the risk of discovering something is broken when you are stripping the old unit to put old bits back in hoping they are serviceable parts back on and find they are only fit for the bin and you need to go back in again and replace something a short time later.

Plus it means it takes minutes as its a straight swap in and out as you can have the complete strut built up on the bench first.

While @VPCAPTAIN took out an air spring, I was building the rear struts, took me longer to build them than it did Rob to take out the rear air bag, like all Touring owners, he's done it a few times now and knows the knack.

Sounds like you picked TRW for the same reason as me, it ticked all the correct spec boxes and were reasonably priced. I think Sachs might be better, but their spec info wasn't as detailed as the TRW so couldn't be 100% sure they met the BMW spec but probably did.  As I was doing all four struts on mine, cost ruled out Bilstein ones!

Thanks @Andrew for the link a few pages back (page 18) for the clips and screws. 
 

Way better than the nasty metal clips that rot and can be difficult to remove. 
 

Very satisfying to replace these. Only done the engine under tray so far (off to local indie for water pump and thermostat on Monday). 
 

When she comes back ( if/when the rain goes away) and now that I have some time off:

- replace all clips and screws under car and in wheel arches

- clay, polish and wax
