What did you do to your F10, F11 or F07 today?

Are the bonnet and boot badges both 82mm?

Gonna change mine too

Yes, this kit does those and the wheels with plenty spare.
They are vinyl, have a texture to them and have very tacky glue - feel like a quality wee product, fantastic for a ‘tenner!

Sneak peek of the start of my switch to Silverstone Merino. I hate black interiors with a passion, too dark and boring.

I've got the M5 comfort seats for the front and door cards. Sadly the upper rear seat and side panels are different on the F10 so I'll have to dye those parts of my black seats.

Cleaned these parts and conditioned them before going in.

Lovely!

I’d really like the comfort seats - are they are straight plug in swap? Or will they need wiring changes/coding?

This is what I have used for the black plastic trim on the exterior of my F11.

I have found it lasts a lot longer than any other back to black products I’ve tried. A proper 2-3 months before it starts to noticeably fade.

@Munzythe comfort seats need coding and most likely some wiring. I have full electric but memory on driver's side only. The comfort seats have memory on both sides.

It's mainly changing the vehicle order so it knows what options you have but without wiring you also need to code out the active head restraints that pop forward in a crash to reduce whiplash.

There are people who can do the coding and wiring though. I will probably go and visit Samy PC (on Facebook) in London to do mine.

That still seems shortlived to me. Have you tried ceramic coatings?

After being as weak as a kitten for best part of 10 days….

Returned the garden back to how my wife likes it, devoid of car parts.

EB8-A0843-A8-F1-4590-A833-1-B47-E43-C7-C

New headlight being checked that it works with all the old modules resealed and bulbs transferred over.

0105-C2-C7-4635-429-D-9384-972-B8-B6-CE1

Which generated more fault codes as it knew the bumper was missing as in it couldn’t detect the resistance of the pdc sensors and fog lights, 🫣

Nothing that I couldn’t sort with my foxwell.

All good now

Also first time I went a decent drive in it since the clocks changed so had to sort the time, then gave it a much needed wash.

Had a new battery fitted after over 12 years with the original.

Varta AGM (none stop start) was £185 fitted with a 5 year warranty. Not bad when some quotes were coming in at over £300.

that’s a good shout.  Did they register it too?

Tayna batteries is worth a look for anyone needing a new battery (OEM) within 24hours if you can fit yourself.

I got a EFB for the wife’s Kuga in less than 24 hours at half the price of the Ford one from them.

No not registered. Was told was unnecessary on mine. Not sure why but I don't have stop start or connected services.

The battery definitely needs registering regardless of whether start stop or not. And it has nothing to do with connected services. It is to reset the Intelligent Battery Sensor so the charging systems knows what the state of the battery is.

Managed to have a service done on my 2011 F10 at a main dealer without BMW finding an additional few £'000s of work that they think needs doing. Even said everything was in good condition in the walk around (and under) video.

Only thing that was picked up was that the bonnet struts are out of date (2016!), but they still hold the bonnet up so...

It's not the struts that go out of date, it's the explosive charges that pop the bonnet up in a crash to help pedestrians not smash into the engine.

Oddly enough it is the struts they check and recommend changing at the service. I had this on my 6GT and the struts are now beyond their date ( the date is clearly visible on the strut) but I can see no value in changing them. I can’t see how they add to the pedestrian safety feature that is part of the hinge mechanism.

From TIS:

Measure:

Caution!

Check the pressure on gas pressure spring for bonnet:

With some gas-filled shock absorbers, the expiry date is printed on. For all others, only the production date is printed on. Regardless of the printing, both gas-filled shock absorbers of the hood must be regularly renewed as part of preventive service.

If necessary, check the expiry date of the gas pressure spring for bonnet (1).

If necessary, note the production date (days/year) (2).

Shelf life of the two gas pressure spring for bonnet must match with the date of the next brake fluid service (24 months). If the expiry is before that date, both engine compartment lid gas pressure springs (1) have to be replaced at extra charge.

It's the struts that has the dates printed on them and 'struts' were explicitly stated on the invoice

Removed all my wheels for a good scrub and polish.  Waxed the tyre walls too.  Cleaned the brake callipers at the same time.

Waiting for new carbon fibre effect centre caps so left them off for now

Couldn’t undo the bolts at first so popped off to get me a breaker bar and deep 17mm socket at last.

Continuing in my fight against the gloomy interior I've swapped out the dashboard trim from Anthracite Fineline Wood to Aluminium Trace from an M5. This will match the M5 Silverstone door cards I've got but it's already made a big difference to the feel inside.

It's tricky buying second hand parts online as pictures often don't show the true condition. Had to send one set back after it arrived but fortunately these ones were as good as I'd hoped.

Had new genuine BMW discs and pads fitted by my friendly indie garage. They were fitted a few days ago. After having had the chance to settle in over 300 miles or so I'm happy to say they feel considerably better than the Brembo stuff they replaced.

The BMW branded pads are stamped with the Jurid name on the front pads and Textar on the rears and seem to offer much better initial bite than the Brembo pads.

In other news today I ordered a set of aftermarket wheels which will hopefully be more resistant to cracks and buckles than the OEM style 613 wheels they're replacing.

Dropped these off at my friendly tyre fitter to have some Michelin Pilot-Sport 5s fitted and Road Force balanced.

I'll pick them up later In the week and post back with a report and some photos of them on the car once I get them fitted.

@Cadwell ParkerI'd be interested to know what size rims you've gone for and how they look once fitted. Looks like 19"?

No they're 18s but the way the spokes extend right to the edge of the rim makes them look bigger. I'd have had a lot more choice with 19s but I wanted to stick to 18s to keep the ride quality. Yes, I'll definitely post up some photos when I get them fitted.
