Crazy Indicators

Clues welcome - 2001 530i Touring. I have an intermittent fault where the indicators are flashing at twice the normal rate, as if there's a bulb out; they're all working though. Using iCarsoft, no fault codes stored. Anyone seen this before? If I use the Hazards then all is normal.

Carsoft is generic isn't it?  I would say it may well not be good enough.  Inpa or PA soft would be better.

It may well be the LCM or otherwise maybe check the connections on the bulb holders including the earths.

There are also posts on other forums suggesting that old bulbs that are on the way out can cause such intermittent symptoms.  Some new bulbs might be worth a try.

Icarsoft is suitable for most cars. I have it as was only dish tool I could found that would cycle and without needing a laptop. Should pull relevant codes.

So today it's behaving itself. Decided to check everything, all bulbs in good nick, cleaned the earths etc. Then I thought, it happened at night - so I turned sidelights on, normal rate for about five seconds then it was off at twice the speed - turned lights back off and after a couple of seconds back to normal. Very odd, further investigation required..

Update - having been round the car checking earths etc, I bought a used LCM off Evilbay - that cured it but.. it's a later version from an X5 so will need to be coded to the car. Anyone had any success doing this?
