E34 525i Touring Auto - in need of some love

Hi All,

After a long time in and about BMWs I think its time to sell up. This is my 525i touring auto for sale and I have tried to be as honest as possible with the photos. I took it off the road last winter as I had another car to drive around with and wasn't using the car much generally due to change of needs after covid.

Its been a great car and I have put on roughly 100K on it with no issues. Now standing at 193,000 ish - need to put a battery on it to confirm. Everything works on it but would need an MOT which it would fail due to the rust on the sills as pictured. I have the side skirts - but took them off to see what condition the sills are in. They do not seem too bad, but will need welding work. Other than that there is a slight dent on the passenger door and on the boot lid. The head liner has also suffered from being stood, sunroof drains have since been cleaned out though so staying dry.... oh and also some paint reaction on the rear quarter from I guess an old repair.

  • Black Leather comfort interior
  • Automatic Transmission
  • M50B25 Engine
  • Fjord Grey
  • 15" BBS Wheels
  • Double Sunroof (Working!)
  • Top Tint Windscreen

Not sure where to position the pricing but for the sake of putting a price £1000.

I also have a BMW load liner, a set of steel winter wheels & Tyres and the original metric wheels

Thanks for looking and open to any feedback and comments. Hopefully this can get back on the road or help keep others going.

Cheers!

I’d be tempted to maybe run the gauntlet of eBay. £1k start bid and see what happens.

A few e34s of late seem to have made reasonable money in project condition.

In my head if you'd accept £1k then start an auction at that, yes ebay can be a PITA, but might yield best return. It's tricky to price when work is needed i'd suggest.

To be fair, it's a bit far gone to repair when you add it all up. It has value in parts but someone who dismantles stuff like this (like me) knows that you've got 193,000 mile bits. Things like the panels, the auto box, diff, suspension etc you'd throw away. Ask me how I know!

The valuable(ish)bit is the engine but again, 193,000 miles. The last one I sold from a 325i Auto with 70k sold for £1000 but the mileage is what sold it.

The catalytic converters are worth a couple of hundred quid - they used to be at least twice that but not any more.

The interior has a value - again, a couple of hundred quid, more if you spend a few hours on it. The rest of things like modules and odds and sods.

It would probably break to £1500 eventually. I wouldn't want to pay more than about £650 as a guide. Tim on here might pay more but recovery costs etc.

Ebay is awash with dreamers, last price/best price idiots and timewasters. You could be lucky though.

I'm down the road in Sheffield.
