Sgc22
This car is testing my love of bmw. 4th issue in 6 months of my 2015 f11. When I brake there is a shudder from the front wheels. There’s also occasionally a high pitch noise from what I think is the near side front wheel. Discs and pads are in good condition. any advice appreciated
Steve84N
Check for any play in the wheel when it's jacked up, possibly a wheel bearing given the noise.
UCB
Another symptom my F11 has. But mines definitely a disc as you can hear the rub when you rotate the front wheel by hand
Andrew
How do you feel the shudder under braking? Via the brake pedal? Via the steering wheel? Via the seat?
Sgc22
Via the pedal, I believe it’s the front discs

Make sure the pads slide on the cradle and lubricate the contact points. Clean all the mating surfaces between the alloy and the brake disc, the brake disc and the hub. Disc surface about to be cleaned. Shiny Alloy mating surface cleaned too.

Steve84N
£10 says that doesn't solve the problem. It's very rare just doing that will be the source, although it can only help.
Andrew
It's a starting point yes and one that can be easily done DIY on the drive with a few basic tools.
