Shopping around for a new engine. I don't fancy swimming in a sea of sub £2, 000 cars.. Especially E39's. I've pretty much sorted out what was wrong with my £2k one! Nick E Posted September 23, 2022 Author Share Posted September 23, 2022 (edited) So, stupid question, but I can't find anything on the net.. Engine needs replacing in the E39.. that's a given. Don't have money to do it at the moment, so I'm driving it. On idle, there's a fair amount of vibration. I'm guessing this will mean engine mounts need replacing when the new lump is put in, BUT, could this vibration damage anything else? Could it be damaging the gearbox mounts or any other part of the gearbox? If there's any possibility of damage outside the engine, then I'm just going to scrap it and buy a bloody cheap Renault Clio to potter around in till the finances improve.
