Getting moisture off the inside of the glass in winter without AC I'd a PITA. Good point mate, and it really works well as dehumidifier. Never understood those people driving in steamed up cars on a rainy day so they can barely see through windows. Aircon would make it all clear in couple minutes. But my lowly 4 pot N47 needs all the help it can get in the low rpms in the higher gears so I'm sparing with the usage. LF-E61 52OD
My humidity failed on both cars. (In the rear mirror housing) It would send it to auto demist and make car too warm. I disconnected sensor and now manually demist. All now ok. I tried ordering replacement sensor but it never arrived. New they are £135. Mine is M47, so from factory even less powerful than N47, thought it's now remapped.
Bmwsmx
Today I replaced the water pump and thermostat housing on the car. The impeller on the old pump was completely seized so no doubting it was done. It wasn’t plain sailing. One of the bolts that holds the thermostat housing to the pump snapped so will need to see if I can get something at the diy shop tomorrow.

Ray112
Made my E61 to pay back for condenser dryer replacement and r134a regas by taking some old fencing and other junk to waste center. These cars are so practical.

There's not much weight wise this time, but I remember 12 pavers in my E39 touring, each was probably around 40kg if not more. At least it was only a two mile trip back then. LF-E61 52OD
I have run mine for years at max weight limit and volume all the time. You may know but if you take rear seat base out, then seat backs lie flatter. Bed time ? I need to be very careful with pressure on rear tyres to get about 20k miles on heavy duties non run flats for last couple of years once I has run flat spare. I have pressure monitors on all wheels as the installed system, is a bit late when it advises of rotation speed differences. Solar powered display £30 odd quid job. 4 wheel alignment with adjustment to take wear off inner edges - cannot remember settings but on tolerance have them at more vertical setting range than at middle of tolerance band. Air suspension is superb. I check the inlet filter and keep an eye for perishing on the suspension bags - say every 2 years. We have done 1 bag change in last 8 years going from 125k to 265k running like this. Edited September 12, 2023 by LF-E61 52OD typo
LF-E61 52OD
Yesterday I was like an expectant father pacing up and down. Not logical. Uuugh. MRM Recovery Warrington - Craig who specialises in BMW timing chains, did the chain and automatic gear box oil service in a day on my 520D 2009 E61. Dropped night before and collected 4:30 yesterday and he sends pickies of progress. Said engine was clean at 127k chain a bit stretched. I think he said tensioners were fully out. Gear box oil "normal" and we looked at pan magnets "normal" had very fine debris on it - just a little, phew no drama. Tick over seems smoother and quieter. Wished I had asked to check gear box mounts and engine mounts while out.

LF-E61 52OD
Hey Tallman , It is the drivers side wheel arch on mine at high level. It filters the incoming air. I do not know what the interval is but if it is blocked the compressor has to work harder.

Gonzo
19mm M6 rear ARB fitted, I wanted the 20mm M5 E61 bar but it's been on back order for 2 years so safe to say you will never see one made again. It's stopped the arse end dipping quite as much as I always felt the touring needed a thicker bar. M5 E60 has 18mm, M5 E61 has 20mm, yet they fit the same SE and M sport sizes to each chassis...

What's the price of M6 ARB please? Had a nice drive around North Moors national park today, and idea of getting little less body roll while cornering sounds good. Currently have M sport 16mm ARB on the back.

dj123
Today i fitted new air springs to the Car. A fairly quick & painless job, thankfully. The old ones were starting to perish, and on one side the threads were coming through. I then went to get my wheels balanced as i had a small vibration in the car whilst driving, which became a bit worse under braking. Turns out one of my wheels is buckled. So i then sourced a new set to pick up, as i'm off to Europe soon and had not time to get it fixed prior to the trip. I'll get one fitted to the car with my tyre on, and get it checked for balancing/buckles.
