  1. Not a huge amount....another year, another rear parking replaced. Slowly working towards changing the glow plugs, new controller last year, cable in this week. Still 6 dead plugs being reported. I'm due to get the inlet manifold off to change the gaskets and I'll check the resistance on each glow plug before just changing them all.
  2. I really enjoyed watching him work. Thanks for posting up @Changy
  3. Just for completeness....it was the internal wiring. Replacement headlight, job done. If anyone would like the old headlight then let me know. I can't put an advert up in the For Sale section. Am only looking for postage costs covered
  4. Ok thanks. Yes get continuity to the bulb connector but wondered if I might be getting a short caused by the biodegradable wiring insulation. i expect it could be a light module issue but why would the drivers headlight not work on the passenger side loom? (Passenger side is working fine)
  5. Definitely have power to pin 3 on the harness (listed in the picture as dipped beam)…
  6. Yep. Bought a brand new pair. No difference.
  7. The connector looks right, but is the description correct? I have continuity between pins: 1->4 1->12 4->12 8->9 10->11 Which looks good, except for 1->4, unless that is correct?
  8. Hi everyone I got the usual "headlight bulb is out" warning from the car the other day and the low beam had stopped working. I thought it was just a bulb replacement due, it seems it's a little more than that.... The standard H7 low beam has stopped working in the drivers side headlight. Plugging the drivers side headlight into the passenger side loom, the bulb is still not illuminating (I didn't try the other way round). There's continuity between pin6 on one of the bulb connector terminals, and pins 1,4 & 12 on the other terminal. Is this right? I will check that there is power to the pins above from the loom and that fuses are as they should be tomorrow. But as this headlight doesn't work in the passenger loom, I doesn't feel like a supply issue. I know that the wiring is fairly biodegradable on these cars, but what I can see of the wiring to the low beam bulb looks good. What else could it be? If it's the internal wiring, it looks a complete pig to try and sort so am I best just buying a replacement unit before I get pulled over by the fuzz? It's a halogen LCI unit, if that helps?
  9. Lovely looking machine. If only it was a touring then I'd be in love! Looking forward to more updates
  10. Yep I've got NCS Expert. Never used it but I know it's there. Harpenden.
  11. Hi duncan-uk. I've just switched laptops to one with a working battery....still have INPA/ISTA and a cable that I will check to make sure still works with my E61. I haven't re-read the thread to see if that fits your bill? Also based in Bucks (home) /Herts (work)....
  12. As an existing Autodoc user...I've recently started to use LLL Parts. Seem very good so far. There's a delay between ordering and the postage of parts, but if you're not after parts next day they're very good.
  13. I think most diesel E60/E61's have that error. It's a medal of ownership honour not an error code :) Thermostat change...both of them. Back to normal. I think I said before, but repainted the wiper arms, new Bosch wipers all round too. And some stone chip touch up paint ordered. So much to keep on top of!
  14. I tried....and I don't know if its because I've drunk too much whisky but I couldn't work out what I needed! :D For my VIN there's 2 different pages for the compressor: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=PX72-EUR-03-2009-E61N-BMW-530d&diagId=64_2554 which states part no 64509180547 OR 99992472027 or: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=PX72-EUR-03-2009-E61N-BMW-530d&diagId=64_1484 which states part no 64509180547 only. 64509180547 looks to be the latest part number...released from 2008 onwards. Mine is a 2009 car so should have this part number....but the Denso part numbers don't match! Confused.
