  1. Every LCI F10/F11 is ULEZ compliant, they were all Euro 6. The problem can be, Euro 6 wasn't actually implemented for registered cars until I think late 2015, although a few vehicles were compliant a fair while before this date. I think some (registered pre-Sept 2015) still show on certain systems as Euro 5 even though they are Euro 6. There's a few cars which aren't compliant which somehow come up as compliant and vice versa.
  2. Mercedes went like this around a year ago, no wonder BMW are following suit. In all honesty I think BMW are losing their appeal with the latest models.
  3. Can’t imagine the i5 is flying out to be honest. I got an email earlier offering a £7,000 deposit contribution on a brand new model. At the list prices I’m honestly not surprised. To think the G30 started at under £40k when it was new, it’s crazy.
  4. I certainly wouldn’t entertain the new model. I’d much rather the last of the G31’s, which I fear will be remembered as the last good 5 series before it just became about tech and pleasing the narrative. The new model is huge but manages no extra boot space. Honestly, BMW’s i-Drive used to be the best on the market in my opinion. Now the latest iteration is just ridiculously complicated. The fact you now pay the best part of £52,000 for a 520i is just ludicrous if you ask me. I cannot get over what a step backwards this new model is in my eyes.
  5. There is a 520d and there will be a 540d (3.0 diesel with circa 300 bhp) in the majority of EU markets, but not the UK. This new 5 is honestly a massive miss for me. The engine line up, the stupid drive modes, expressive/digital art mode etc, what was wrong with eco pro, comfort & sport/sport plus? Lack of physical climate controls, even changing the headlight settings, you push a button and then have to use the i-Drive to adjust. They're ridiculously complicated. They also removed the tailgate glass opening which I always found handy. Aside from that, the price. The new Mercedes E Class looks a much better proposition this generation, better engine line ups and looks better, although this again is stupidly priced 🤐.
  6. Good budget for one. I do think finding one with adaptive cruise is going to be the hardest bit. There will be one out there though.
  7. I've always found the F10/F11 generation to be among the most reliable of the 5 Series bunch. I've had a fair few and never had any major issues. Timing chains aside on the 2.0 diesel. Generally any F-Series car has been very reliable from the ones I've had. Adaptive cruise is a rare option, but looking for a 535d hopefully you'll find one with plenty of options. Adaptive cruise does add the additional buttons on the left side of the wheel. Do you have a budget in mind? I'd recommend if the budget will stretch to an LCI car. They have a few nice additions over the pre-LCI and benefit from being Euro 6. There's a handful of 13 plate LCI's and most came in on a 63 plate. There are some pre-LCI cars floating around on a 63 plate however. Rear suspension airbags are a known weak point on F11's but generally, good cars.
  8. That does sound quite expensive in that case especially with a £250 excess.
  9. Is it over 60,000 miles? Over 60k and they jump up a fair bit on cost.
  10. I bought and used some cheap eBay specials on a Mercedes E Class I had, worked perfectly.
  11. Valid point and totally see it from the point of view. However, time is valuable, would rather pay £100 excess and not have to roll around. Used to really enjoy bits of maintenance, now though I just see it as hassle.
  12. Always tend to stick with the BMW warranty. It's pricer than most offerings, however BMW do the work, it's done properly & their warranty covers a lot when you opt for comprehensive cover. Worth it in my opinion.
  13. Honestly one F11 I had, had a buckled wheel, changed it and the vibration was still there. Never did get to the bottom of it. As you've said I do wonder if it's just a thing once they get to a certain age. There must be something that causes it.
  14. In all honesty, I had a new F10 in 2016, it's the only one I've had that hasn't had a wobble. I've had four F11's and each of them other than the highest mileage 2012 has had the wobble. The only thing the 2012 F11 had had that the others hadn't was engine mounts. Whether that was the cause or not I don't know.
  15. I get ours through Lloyds Bank, gives you the AA and a host of other benefits for £21 per month.
