  1. Just had a notification from the RAC that my breakdown cover was going up in price from £21 to £33 a month. just wondering what is the best price to expect to pay if i cancel the policy. just to say that since i had a stroke and have a blue badge the car is only used for local journeys just one query if I am the only driver of the car and the wife is just a passenger is this counted as single use only in the policy.thanks tim.
  2. After finding the original door handle retaining bolt after removing door trim, the bolt looks nothing like the bolt supplied by bmw. after talking to the bmw parts man and explaining what problems i was having he suggested that the bolt might be part of the left passenger door carrier assembly pn p/n 5121717531.tim
  3. Thanks for the info and link to bmw parts site, I found the link for my car but it does not show the exact location of the bolt. although it looks like it is item 3 part number 07149258986, Tim
  4. the front passenger exterior door handle has come loose. i believe there is a captive bolt that holds it in place. can any one tell me the part number of this bolt.thanks tim
  5. Thanks very mutch for excerlent pictures and info, i never realised that the handbrake was just like a normal drum brake set up,what has supprised me is that the onboard service info says the rear disc pads need replacing in 1100miles but the front disc pads are good for another 30000 miles, i have owned the car for 7years now and have never had to change the disc pads, i bought the car with 34000 miles on the clock at 3years old, car is now on 66000miles so dont no if these are the original pads. Tim
  6. computor in car says that the rear brake pads are due for replacement in 1100miles, i am sure i have read in this forum the one before facebook that some owners had issues with the brake pads squeeling.and sometime the make of the pads is critical, anyone advise on this. have recieved a recall letter from BMW about the EGR recall, but i had my EGR replaced by Williams BMW last year. so are they replacing them again.Tim
  7. Nice to see this forum back where it belongs, tried using it on facebook but could not get the hang of it. I was on the forum for a good few years and reconize quite a few members from before. i can not remember my old forum user names but i think i used (technoman ot timwil) but as there was not many 530D F07 a few members might remember me. just to say i have tried to load picture on profile link but it keeps on coming up upside down, am i doing somthing wrong. as to logging back into this forum i nealy gave up the will to live! as a bit of old person i find Qcodes and Google store a bit of a dark art. Tim
