  1. You will need your fuse chart to identify a suitable fuse to piggyback onto. You can have a permanent live or a switched live power supply. If you go down the permanent route, be warned that you might drain your battery. Do you have more than one fuse board, as in one in the dash and one in the rear? Use the dash one if possible. I did a write up about this last year. Search for fuseboards. The thread might be of use. Basically you want to tap into a 12V accessory socket fuse. These are usually switched power and unlikely to affect anything critical (You don't want to piggyback any fuses for ABS, airbags, etc.)
  2. Well, when I put it in, I noticed a difference. It's a personal choice thing. I cleaned it this morning. Cleaning it is a PITA. It's currently in the airing cupboard drying. When it's dry, I need to oil it, before refitting. So maybe a waste of time and money for some, but not for me. In the meantime, there is a Mahle 'paper' filter fitted as a temporary solution. The KN filter is £65. A cleaning kit is £18. I reckon I'll get another clean out of the kit. So roughly £83, for 4 years. The Mahle filters are about £20, so depending on how often you change them (annually or bi annually) it's a similar cost, or £40 premium. Either way, not much to pay, if you think you get a benefit.😊
  3. I prefer the performance benefit of the KN filter. I have a paper one as a spare, so I might clean it.😊
  4. Yes, there is a cleaning kit and I do have one. Maybe, being a Londoner born and bred, we're used to manky air😂, so the filter wasn't clean, but not dirty by 'London' standards. I'll investigate further and may clean it.😊
  5. Also did a check on the grommet of doom. To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't been replaced from the original until last year when I did it. The original (6.5 years old) was a little crusty looking, but hadn't failed. But, I replaced it anyway. Just over a year later, it still looks new and there was little to clean out.
  6. Checked my KN air filter today. Didn't look dirty enough to clean. It was fitted in September 2022, so guessing I've done between 8-10k miles in the 21 months.
  7. And this M4 competition, adapted for a disabled driver.
  8. Saw this Alpina D3S in Mayrhofen last week
  9. So the weather has improved, and I've got the plastic trim off the seat frames to investigate further. The drivers side seat has a single '8 plug' module and the passenger seat has a smaller '3 plug' module. I was expecting the drivers side to have the smaller 3 plug module too, as this is for the electric heating. Clearly, one module can serve two seats. The seat module carrier in my F07N doesn't resemble that in the online manual I refer to, so I wasnt able to see which module the driver seat uses. This job would be far easier, if I took the seats out, but I don't want to go there yet. So I know I need an 8 plug seat module, as this is where all the positions for the various drives and sensors are stored. Plus, I'll need a new wiring loom between the seat position switch cluster, the new seat module. I didn't think to make a note of the drivers wiring loom, as I was rummaging under the seats, so that is a task for next time. RealOEM doesn't seem to offer a loom with 6 connectors (Although the module has 8 connectors, 2 arent used unless you have active ventilation / massage functionality) to run between the seat module and the seat position switch, but I might have missed it. So the obvious way forward, simplistically, is a new seat module, identical to the existing drivers side, plus an identical wiring loom between seat module and seat position switch. Some of the pin assignments will need changing ( this is how the modules differentiate between driver and passenger, since there isn't a driver or passenger specific module). Depending on what seat module I need, new ones cost between £177 and £277 new. Second hand they can vary between between £50-£150. I haven't yet seen any seat modules of the types I'm interested in from 2016 onwards. Most are between 2009 and 2012. So the new route looks most likely. Until I find out the wiring loom reference, I won't know what the likely cost for that is either. So progress is still slow on this🙄🤣
  10. Wasserturm Rödelheim..a water tower in the Western edge of Frankfurt. Composition wise it doesn't score highly, because of the crane jib sticking out the side.
  11. I also saw this. Makes me wish I should learn to drive again. For those that don't read German, the sign on the roof says Driving School. I don't think I've ever since such an exotic car used for driving lessons
  12. I saw this in Bad Homberg, just outside Frankfurt last week. An orthodox Church built in 1899.
  13. I'm with CK, inside M25, with a London post code, mine isn't garaged, but sits on the drive, 25+ years no claims, paid about £800 in February 24, based upon 5000 milea a year. My F07N has listed modifications (but they're not covered!🤣), but none that affect performance.
  14. Welcome to the F07 club....I think that makes two of us now here.😁
